A Tailor’s bunion is a prominence on the outside of the foot at the level of the 5th metatarsal head. They have similar symptoms and causes as a regular bunion deformity. Diagnosis is based on clinical exam and X-rays, which are used to visualize the extent of the bony deformity. Conservative treatments include padding, wider shoe gear, anti-inflammatory medications, icing, and/or steroid injection therapy. Surgery is indicated when all conservative measures have failed.
